Clinical Experience Permit Renewal, Revision, or Conversion
Summary of Requirements
Use Form 24A to renew a Clinical Experience Permit, add an additional school district, request a change of placement, or convert a Short-Term Yearlong Residency Permit to a Long-Term Residency Permit.
Form 24A is used to apply for clinical experiences for teachers, administrators and student support personnel. This one (1) year permit must be issued before you can participate in a clinical experience within the West Virginia public school system.
Be physically, mentally, and emotionally qualified
Have recommendation from the county Superintendent and designated college or university official
Education Requirements
To apply, you must:
Maintain good standing in a regionally accredited program that provides licensure as a teacher, administrator, or student support personnel
This program may be in-state or out-of-state.
Complete program requirements, like applicable state tests or the Praxis exam, before starting or completing clinical experience
If enrolled in a West Virginia approved program, you must have passed West Virginia Board of Education-required Praxis exams.
Speech Language Pathologist candidates do not need to provide passing content scores before/during their clinical experience.
If you are in a year-long residency, you are not required to have passing scores on West Virginia Board of Education required Praxis exams during Residency I and can receive a Short-Term Yearlong Residency Permit.
You must meet Praxis II requirements to be eligible for a Long-Term Yearlong Residency Permit during Residency II.
